Material Matters

Material Matters is a research and development project to explore ways of working and thinking about materials alongside other creative practitioners, as part of a performance practice that enables a deeper reflection on the property of materials. Materials can be defined as the matter that all things are made from.

This project will examine how materials can be part of a making practice within performance and theatre context. Rather than the traditional role of theatre design where objects are used to construct a set, Material Matters will focus on how we can work with materials to explore other possible ways of making for audiences. And furthermore, how these material-led ways of making work towards developing an anti-anthropocentric way of making that enables environmental change.
