POLLOKSHIELDS PLAYHOUSE

A yearlong project curated with and by the community in partnership with the local council and Baxendale Architecture. Starting off as an empty waste ground, and with limited funding, the Playhouse design was developed incrementally based on community input and collaboration. Playhouse engaged with over 5000 residents of Pollokshields as well as engaging a wider audience. The Playhouse programme of events was designed by the local community and consisted of after school play sessions, tea dances, a full outdoor cinema programme with food, a re-enactment of a rave, festive celebrations, den building workshops, artist residencies, music night, southside film festival and performances.
